Co-Curricular Policy

The NHIAA has created clear guidelines on who can participate in a school's athletics programs, and Profile has done the same. Students must maintain specific grade point averages and attendance in order to be eligible for the season and/or the game. Should these standards carry over to all co-curricular activities, or should only certain ones fall under these policies? Is soccer the same as drama, and are either or both the same as chess club?

Share your ideas on the policy and which clubs/sports/organizations should fall under this umbrella.

Although I do not think a once a week chess club meeting is the same as the daily commitment to athletics/drama etc., there has to be consistency when enforcing a policy. If one or two exceptions are made, then there is a precedent. Parents and students will then want other exceptions to be made-for the "big game" etc. If no exceptions are made, everyone will learn that policies are in place for a reason. If this policy is broken, the other policies of the school will have less validity. There are too many people in society today, including parents and kids, who think it is just fine to try to get around the rules.
